weGifted allows users to send eGift Cards to their friends and family. The recipient is notified of the gift in one or more of the following ways: Facebook Wall Post, Email, or Text Message. Once a gift is sent, other friends of the recipient have an opportunity to contribute money to the eGift Card in order to make it better. The recipient can then redeem the gift using weGifted at which point they will be emailed the eGift Card that can be used at its corresponding merchant.

KIWI: Visualizing Complex Knowledge Space![]()

A system to connect with Wikipedia, to present its knowledge structure, and to support users constructing their own representations in sensemaking. KIWI employs a series of algorithms to measure and represent focus and context views of different levels, and provides facility for users to directly adopt the generic knowledge structure of Wikipedia into their personal representation to save sensemaking cost. In addition, KIWI offers various ways to represent the collected knowledge structure, which could potentially better serve the mapping with human’s flexible and complicated internal representation.

Mi-Fresh: Promoting Local Food Consumption ![]()
![]()

MIFresh, a grocery store system consisting of a large display and individual kiosks that aims to increase the demand of local produce. In cities like Detroit, where poverty and health are major concerns, increasing consumption of local produce can help create local jobs, sustain the environment, and improve health. We used rapid contextual design to analyze Detroit's existing food system and, based on our findings, iteratively design a solution. MIFresh uses proven techniques such as coupons and rewards points programs and delivers education and awareness about the importance of consuming local produce.

The Hub is an interactive crossroads at the center of North Campus. It is literally a hub of social activity, bringing together food and people in a comfortable outdoor environment. But it is also a hub of information which displays data in an engaging plaza designed to resemble the spokes of wheel. The Hub improves life on north campus because it provides a gathering place with games, art, and information.

MUSECOMP: Hands-on Museum Interaction Device![]()
MuseComp is a prototype of a miniature interactive device for Hands-On Science Museum. With this device, kids can be guided by pre-programmed route during the visit. The device promotes real-time location awareness information, which is implemented by blue-tooth sensing the relative location in the museum. the device also facilitates interactive learning with the help of animation and sound effects instead of boring write-ups in the museum. It also includes quizzes as well as real-time one-to-one and group communication function module.
